Question:
Do you think in pictures or words?

Last night when I was lying in bed I was doing a lot of thinking. After lying there for a few minutes I was noticed that even though I was thinking quite a bit, I had no actual visual pictures of my thoughts. They were strings of words......sentences.....and I even made note that at instances during my thinking I paused to mentally spell out some of the most important words.

It occurred to me that is this how I always think. My thoughts always come in the form of words, and hardly ever as a picture or a series of pictures.

Do you think in pictures or words?

Personally im more to visual, as in pictures. You're the type with words. ;) Words and numbers are best for you. As for me, pictures and sound.

Yes, but that doesn't mean you think in words. When you close your eyes I say ice cream, do you think of an ice cream, or do you think "ICE CREAM" in print? If it's the first one you think in pictures like a vast vast majority of humans and if it's the second one than uh, congrats you're the first person I've known who thinks in words.

Most people will not have a series of pictures flashing through their minds yet still think in pictures or concepts of pictures. There are some things that can't be put in pictures obviously but even then we see them as concepts and not words.

Unless I'm horribly misinterpreting this and you actually mean if we can understand things better when we visualize them.

I'd say I think in pictures in either case, though.

I noticed this recently too, when I started Uni and higher Mathematics I noticed that it was extremely difficult to understand difficult concepts in Mathematics without being able to visualize it

For me it seems I cant think deeply without visualization
