Daughter's 4th birthday is during Ramadan?

Question

Since we will be fasitng, what do you suggest? She will InshaAllah be having a "princess" party. Her brothers just had theirs and she is really looking forward to this. Should we just wait it out or should we have it late and break fast? (it is on the 10th of Oct.) Any ideas would be great, Thanks

i would suggest have the birthday party after the opening of fast...she is a kid and for kids birthday is the most important day for them, regardless of any restrictions.... and if u will put it off till after Ramadan, seh is gonna be pretty pissed abt it. so, i would say y not hav it after breaking the fast....

Wait, all these people are talking about the 4 year old girl fasting, so am I missing something here? Does she fast? If so, that's haram to keep a child so young without food all day, but there's n mention on that in the question anyway.



If you're asking about fasting for the older folks, then you could always hold a small birthday party with a few of her friends, have the little kids open presants, eat cake, etc... so she can be the "princess" that she wants to be. Then, after iftar, you can invite family members over for a nice dinner and yummy desert, and she can have two parties: a "kids" party, where the adults are fasting, and a "adult" one, for family.

asalum alekom i have 2 suggestion although i thought celebrating birthdays r harram in islam anyways the first suggestion is to move u party after the month of ramadhan or eid i think this is probably the path that allah would like u to take{mabye ??? only allah really knows) the second suggestion is to have the party on the date october 10 and not fast but after ramadhan make up the days or after eid fast one day for the one day u miss but i thin k the best is first suggestion because yes although u october 10 is the day u had your daughter ramadhan u will get many beneficient from allah on the day of judgement as every day of fast in ramadhan allah will reward u more or u could celebrete it after maghrib that is a good ideal but i dont think before fajr

I would also vote that you wait until after you all break your fast at sundown, but after your prayers is when the party begins! Make that idea sound as exciting as you can. That way she can look forward to it all day, and the anticipation can really build up.



Besides, at age 4 she is old enough to understand that we need to wait until sundown because we are fasting for Allah.

im a muslim, and i know exactly how u feel. i do think that u should have it during breakfast. mayb just a lil one first. then celebrate it after the prayer. she would at least be happy. mayb u could also decorate her room really nice and have her wearing the princess costume all day!! treat her as she is the queen of the day, feed her nicely...well she can still eat. i had my birthday during ramadhan as well when i was 5 i guess, my mom celebrate after ramadhan. in syawal with all my relatives, so actually it is a lot better

What the heck. Why don't you just have it late like you said, so you can enjoy the party on the actual day. You can make it a special part of breaking fast. I hope your daughter has a lot of fun.

I'll answer quite differently. For your information, celebrating birthday party is not permissible in Islam. Giving party, men and women mixing in the party, singing and dancing etc are forbidden. The so-called 'birthday" is Bid'ah (reprehensible innovation). And doing this in the month of Ramadan is even more serious sin. Please read the article in this link:

If you really want to celebrate her birthday, you can celebrate without doing any wrong deed. Keep fasting properly. You can have special feast after Iftaar with your family members only.

i am Muslim too .. u can celebrate all the day as any time in any month the only change will be at the eating time so u can make a delicious breakfast (sweets cakes ..etc + original break fast )with her brothers ..

if she is only 4 years old she can eat in Ramadan .

You may have quite the understanding daughter, and she may be okay with waiting. You could totally make her day and have it early instead of late. I understand that she is only 4, and if she is looking forward to it, just do it early instead.

well i know u want too have ur daughters b-day but u will b getting more sin then u would usually cause its in ramadan. 10x more sin can u afford that much sin? ur following the way of the kafir. u r in a way celebrating that she is 1 more year closer to dieing............id say dont celebrate it at all tell her its not being a proper muslim to celebrate b-days cause the prophet (SAW) had never done so.
