Question:
Ramadan related question..?

I've never really experienced any difficulty with Ramadan before - like everyone else I do get hungrier as they day goes by but that's nothing out of the ordinary. However, this year is proving to be slightly harder. With my new job I have to wake up at 7:00AM - the wait therefore up to Iftaar is longer, but I have been coping. The only things that are severely affecting me are the headaches and nose bleeds I have been experiencing.

At around 6pm each day I will get a headache, when it comes to around 9:30PM (time to eat) the headache becomes stronger - which makes me feel very sickly and dizzy. As I eat I feel as though I am going to throw-up and therefore can only eat a little. Throughout the night I will continue feeling sickly and try and force myself to eat something for strength for the next day - but I usually can't eat anything. All of this I am dealing with - it's Ramadan and I will not let the temporary pain stop me from fasting (I have been taking two pain killers at Iftaar each day). Recently though I have been experiencing nose bleeds. I think this may be stemming from my daily headaches? The first time my nose started bleeding was just after Iftaar - the second time was this morning, I woke up and my nose was bleeding a lot heavier.

My concerns/questions are:

Does nose bleeds invalidate fasting?
I don't want the Doctor to tell me to stop fasting - but should I see one?
What should I do to stop all the headaches?
Do you think these issues are due to the longer wait (7:00AM to 9:30PM)?

Sorry for the long question and thank you in advance!

This is sad. You really need some strength. I suggest you to take heavy intake of proteins in suhoor which can keep you energetic for day and take nap in between as it will refresh your health.

If the bleeding is too much, so than it invalidate whereas few drops of blood does not.

You should see a doctor to discuss on how to get over your headache pain and nose bleeding. You should know the cause of it and should get it fixed. Islam does not allow to harm your health.

You should take good intake of food in suhoor. It seems you are very weak; therefore, you need to take proper sleep and a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and meat.

It might be but if you take proper diet and early sleep can help you overcome these issues. Ask help from Allah. I will pray for you inshallah. He is the one who gives strength and health. Try to recite Tasbih Fatima.

!!! Ramadan Mubarak !!!

Seeing you after a long time. See you around.

1) Nose bleeds do not invalidate fast:

There are seven things that break the fast, as follows:

1- Intercourse

2- Masturbation

3- Eating and drinking

4- Anything that is regarded as coming under the same heading as eating and drinking

5- Letting blood by means of cupping and the like

6- Vomiting deliberately

7- Menstruation and nifaas

2) If you are really sick, and fasting will jeopardize your health and increase the illness, then you are excused from fasting.

Most of the scholars – including the four imams – are of the view that the sick person is not allowed to break his fast in Ramadaan unless the sickness is severe. Which means:

1- The sickness will be made worse by fasting

2- Recovery will be delayed by fasting

3- Fasting will cause intense hardship, even if it does not make the sickness worse or delay recovery

4- The scholars also included those who fear that they may become sick because of fasting. Try to see a muslim doctor, he will judge whether you can fast or not inshAllah.

3) You should take medication after iftaar and during suhoor to avoid pain.Sleeping to kill time is allowed, but not recommended. If you sleep to regain your health, then this is not killing time for surely there is a purpose, which is to regain your strength. But sleeping to make the day go by and not feel the time go slowly...then this type of sleeping isn't recommended at all in the time of Ramadan. If you make intention, your sleep can be an act of good deeds, just make intention that when you sleep, you are doing so to regain strength to do other acts of worship like reading quran, helping mother, etc. and you will get rewarded inshAllah for your sleep becuz it served as a purpose.

Hi, a nose bleed doesn't break the fast but it will break your wudu so you can continue to fast. If you really want to see a doctor, try and find a practising muslim doctor as they will be able to understand the situation better than a non muslim doctor. And as for the headaches, when you get home from work, you could try going to sleep for a couple of hours and see if that works. That's what my sister does as she has to get up around 7am too. For the meantime try and occupy yourself with something like reading some Quran or some Islamic books or something.

Hope this helps :)

Sister, if you are constantly getting nose bleeds, then stop for a few days.

Have yourself diagnosed and when you are well, continue with the fast.

Allah has clearly said in holy Quran, not to fast when sick.

May Allah bless you with quick recovery.

If you are having these kind of health issues, I would advice you to not proceed with the ramadan.
