why aren't dinosaurs mentioned in the qu'ran? Do muslims believe evolution exists among humans, meaning peole evolve from one form to another as well as differences in cultural upbringings - provided that you believe God made Adam who did not evolve from animals but other humans evolved from him and changed form?

Thats an interesting question. The Quran does mentions Allah's creatures during the time of Adam and Eve, but who knows what all those creatures where? However, i doubt they were dinosaurs. Most likely they were larger versions on animals today. Because Islam teaches that during the time of Adam and Eve, the people were giants. So does large fossils they find in my opinion is giant animals of the past.

Allah Almighty did mention dinosaurs in the Noble Quran. While the word "dinosaurs" is a modern word that refers to the gigantic animals that existed perhaps millions of years ago, Allah Almighty referred to all created "beasts" as "dabbah". A "dabbah" in the Noble Quran consists of all animals, including the dinosaurs.

"Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which God Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise. (The Noble Quran, 2:164)"

"He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs. (The Noble Quran, 31:10)"

Notice in Noble Verse 31:10, Allah Almighty said that He created the mountains to prevent the earth from shaking (which had been scientifically proven to be true. Please visit: www.answering-christianity.com/mountains.htm), and then after that He, the Almighty, created beasts and scattered them throughout the land. These first beasts that were created before mankind are what we call today "dinosaurs".

as someone before me said, not all creations are mentioned in the quran. alot of animals, plants and whatnot arent mentioned, but that doesnt mean they dont exist to us.

well no islam does not believe that humans evolved from apes.

but yea i cant answer the whole dinasoar thing, whether isllam believes they existed or not, or why they wernt mentioned in the quran, sorry, i honestly dont know haha

but i personally believe they existed, i think they were really cool animals.

speakout, sorry if im being pesty or annoying but why are you so against muslims?

if Allah want to mention every single creation he made, then no papers could hold the contents of the quran. There are many animals, plants n other things.so many to mention by name.

Quran is poem.you need to understand the deeper meaning to get the outer meaning.you have to really understand to find out what Allah is trying to tell. That's why there are people who studies Quran n they become one of the most intelligent people (include non-muslim also study quran) cuz in quran there r many knowledge to learn.you just need to find out the answer.if Allah tells everything straight away then it's better if we don't build schools cuz there will b nothing to learn.am i right?Allah want us to use our brain n think.

For those who said Islam is so backwards whatsoever,i suggest you learn islamic history first before you say anything that's baseless.daaaa.....

the qu'ran actually starts "later" then the bible. we muslims don't totally disbelive the bible. we simple believe Jesus was a prophet. as we walk alongside our christian brothers we come to that fork in the road. we simply choose to go one way while christians go another. so to answer your question, much like the christians who read the bible, the whole dinosaur thing is also highly debated and discussed.

Dinosaurs is a creation of God that existed earlier. In my knowledge Quran does not give us list of all creations. In essense Quran is book of guidance, not of biology and fossils. Correct that Quran mentions some of God's creation, but that is because God chose to mention that.

Existense of dinosaurs does not necessarily mean evolution is true.

Dinosaurs were first discovered in the 1800's. And I would guess that strict Islam isn't compatible with science just like fundamentalist Christianity.

No we don't believe in evolution, that's pretty much the simple answer. Otherwise there wouldn't be a point in our faith being based on god as our sole creator, if we believed in evolution playing a role. But i don't have a clue as to why the dino's aren't included, i'm a moderate muslim, so i don't know everything there is to know about the issue. But hey, it's an answer! : )

The question may be difficult to answer. Islam is a very broken religion, more so than others. Hence you can speak to a grand Iotollah that will claim that dinosaurs are mentioned in the Qu'ran while other high priests will say there is no such mention. There is far too much inconsistency to say what 'Islam' believes since Islam is different to every believer.

The Qur'an was written before dinosaurs were discovered. Evolution as a subject was not mentioned in either the Bible or the Qur'an because this was a subject first put forth by Charles Darwin many hundreds of years later.

Muslims believe that all information, all science, everything they need to know is contained in the Qur'an. Anything not in the Qur'an is heresy. This is one of the reasons why muslims are so backwards.
