Greetings of Peace!

First of all, I want to congratulate you on your accepting this great religion Islam, and welcome you into the fold of Islam. As you are probably aware, the moment you become a Muslim, every single Muslim becomes your brother. And Allah forgives all the previous sins, and purify the person so much so, as that of a new born child. You are so blessed. Allah Kareem!

Testify your faith by reciting:

Ash-hadu alla ilaha illallah-wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasulullah

"I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and Muhammad (SAW) is His messenger".

Purify yourself. Immediately upon becoming a Muslim, you should take a shower, to purify yourself. This is both a symbolic act of washing away the past and being purified, of emerging from darkness to light, created afresh and also signifies the importance of purity in Islam. Your local mosque will likely have people who will be more than willing to guide and assist you in learning more about Islam and many have "New Muslim" study circles which are often a good place to start. Be careful, but relaxed, about finding someone who you feel comfortable with and who you are convinced has enough knowledge in order to teach well.Offer your first prayer to God. If you're not sure how the prayer is performed, again it's best to learn from somebody you trust rather than go it alone. The easiest way to learn is to attend a Mosque for the 5 daily prayers. Just follow along initially but also seek knowledge as to the requirements of the prayer. Prayer should be a relaxing, enjoyable activity and is best when taken time over. Rushing the prayer should be avoided in order to gain maximum benefit. Remember, prayer is a direct spiritual connection between you and the one who keeps your heart beating right now and who created the universe. It should bring serenity, happiness and peace. This will come with and improve with time. Avoid being excessive with the prayer and simply do your best. The goal initially is to establish a habit and make it an enjoyable experience.Understand the five pillars of Islam. They are the Testimony of Faith and the method of belief (Emaan), the five daily Prayers (Salaah), Fasting (in the month of Ramadan), Compulsory Poor Due (Zakaah), and Pilgrimage (Hajj) (once in your lifetime for those who have the means).Believe in the seven articles of Faith: Believe in God, his angels, his revealed books, his messengers (from Adam to Mohammad), the Last Day, the fate (good and bad) is predestined by Allah, and the Resurrection after Death. This forms part of the 1st Pillar.Be the best person you can be: No matter what may anger, sadden or upset you, you must be the best person you can be. Allah created us to have a good life, and to be happy. Being respectful towards others is a big part of being a good Muslim, so make sure to remember that often. May Allah Guide us all, we should always be ever thankful unto our creator for his mercy in showing us the right path.

im a muslim, and i wont be biased while answering your question, many people in the west think (not critisizing) that islam is a violent religion, not to blame them because media is potraying a very ugly image which is nothing like islam, trust me,very few people gain in depth knowledge who have doubts on that score whereas the majority of the people allow themselves to be brainwashed into believing that islam is not a peace loving religion,i will not mention any islamic teachings or sayings to twist your mind or anything just clearing up your confusion as to why the increasing number of these reverts are clearing their misconceptions on that score,i myself am that sort of a person who respects all religions, and i genuinely believe that before stereotyping or critisizing a particular religion(not just islam) we should always make a point of looking deep into the matter and useful sources before making any judgements,to prevent biasness and this satan of a media to manipulate your mind. This is a fact that many people refuse to acknowledge,i appreciate your taking an interest as to why theres such an increasing number of these reverts, and im pleased to have been of some help.

First, You can't be forced or convert into Islam without a belief in Allah and his Messenger Muhammad. You have to believe in God and his messenger with your heart and have no doubts. Your question already has doubts and if you truly believe in Islam than all this hell talk shouldn't bother you because a believer is convinced he's on the right track. You must also believe Jesus as a messenger not god or his son, if converting to Islam.

I suggest you read the Quran :) and if you choose Islam with your heart deep down you'll know its the truth.

he can do whatever he wants, but he would not only be hurting himself but also the girl if he doesn't convert w/the truest intention of doing it for Allah(swt) and b/c he believes it is the truth

if the girl doesn't make certain that he's converting truthfully and sincerely, then she'd be putting herself at a greater risk of sinning

if a true belief in Islam is not the reason for conversion, then he'd be no different then any other "muslim by name"...the kind that take shahada and don't practice

Allah knows what's in every being's heart and mind

It's great that you want to become a muslim, but you are doing it for TOTALLY the wrong reasons. What you need to do is learn more about Islam (I'm happy to help you with this) and decide that you love the religion, and then convert. if you're converting for her then it is wrong. it is fine to look in to the religion because of her, but when you are actually converting it must be purely out of faith, because it is a big commitment - Islam is a way of life. Please email me (blobster818@hotmail.co.uk) and I can help you find out more about islam, give you useful sites, how to pray etc).

Never convert to a religion just to marry someone!

Islamically, if you don't believe that Islam is the true relion (that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammed is his messenger), then even if you take the shahada you won't be a muslim. Without true belief saying the shahada will be just words, but not change in religion.

Give the girl up. First of all, she shouldn't be talking to you. Second of all, let her marry a religious muslim man. Don't just convert to Islam because of a girl!

I converted from Christianity, but I did so because of faith. Read about Islam. If you don't believe in it then let the girl go.

If you are really compelled to do this, then find the nearest mosque and speak to an Imam (religious leader). They can give you guidance on how to begin studying Islam.

If you truly believe that Allah (swt) is the only God worthy of worship and that the Prophet Muhammed (saws) is His messenger, then you can take your shahadah. You say it in Arabic, and the statement that I made above is what you are saying.

Let me tell you this: One does not become a Muslim for love of another person. You have to do this because you truly believe in Allah (swt). I am serious.

See the web sites below. They will give you some information on what to expect when converting.

May Allah (swt) guide you to Islam. Ameen.

First you should know what are Islamic beliefs.

Allah

(59:22) He is Allah: there is no god but He; the Knower of the unseen and the manifest, He is the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.

(59:23) He is Allah: there is no god but He: the King, the Holy, the All-Peace, the Giver of security, the Overseer, the Most Mighty, the Overpowering, the All-Great. Exalted be He from whatever they associate with Him.

(59:24) He is Allah, the Planner, Executer and Fashioner of creation. His are the names most beautiful. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth extols His Glory. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Wise.

His Angels

Read Quran 2:97-98, 22:75, 50:17-18, 72:10-12, 2:30-29 etc.

His Books

(2:87) And We gave Moses the Book and sent after him a train of Messengers in succession. Then We sent Jesus, son of Mary, with clear Signs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. Then how is it that whenever a Messenger came to you wish that which did not suit your lusts, you grew rebellious against him, and repudiated some and slew others.

(2:88) They say, "Our hearts are secure." Nay, the fact is that Allah has cursed them for their disbelief; so they are little disposed to believe.

(2:89) And how are they behaving now towards a Book which has come to them from Allah? Inspite of the fact that it confirms the Scriptures which they already possessed. and, inspite of the fact that, before it came, they used to pray for a signal victory over the disbelievers, they rejected it when it came, although they recognized it. May Allah's curse be upon such disbelievers!

His Messengers

(2:135) The Jews say, "Become Jews and you will be rightly guided" ;the Christians say, "Become Christians and you will have the true guidance." Say to them, "Nay, we turn away from every other way and accept the way of Abraham, and Abraham did not associate other gods with Allah."

(2:136) O Muslims, say to them, "We believe in Allah and the Guidance which has been sent down to us and which was sent to Abraham, Ismail , Isaac and Jacob and his descendants and which was given by their Lord to Moses and Jesus and to all other Prophets. We do not discriminate against any of them and we have completely surrendered to Allah as Muslims."

Doomsday

(22:5) O mankind! If you have any doubt concerning Resurrection, then know that it is surely We Who created you from dust, then.....

(22:6) All this is because Allah, He is the Truth, and because He resurrects the dead, and because He has power over everything,

(22:7) (all of which shows that) the Hour shall surely come to pass - in this there is no doubt - and Allah shall surely resurrect those that are in graves.

Estimate of good and evil is from Allah

(35:2) Whatever Mercy Allah accords to people, none can withhold; and whatever He withholds, no other will be able to release after Him. He is Most Mighty, Most Wise.

Resurrection after death

(36:77) Does man not see that We created him of a sperm drop, and lo! he is flagrantly contentious?

(36:78) He strikes for Us a similitude and forgot his own creation. He says: “Who will quicken the bones when they have decayed?”

(36:79) Say: “He Who first brought them into being will quicken them; He knows well about every kind of creation;

(36:80) He Who created from a green tree a fire for you, a fire to light your stoves with.”

(36:81) Has He Who created the heavens and the earth no power to create the likes of them? Yes, indeed, He is the Superb Creator.

(36:82) Whenever He wills a thing, He just commands it “Be” and it is.

(36:83) Holy is He Who has full control over everything, and to Him you shall all be recalled.

Islam means “submission to th e Will of God.” In its ethical sense Islam signifies “striving after the ideal.

”A Muslim is one who submits to the Will of God.“Islam” and “ Muslim” derive from the same word as the Arabic for “peace.” The traditional Muslim greeting is "Peace be unto you.”

Islam offers hope for salvation to the righteous and God-fearing of all religions. Muslims believe in the Divine Revelations of many prophets including Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, but do not believe that God assumed human form. The Quran, Muslims believe,

is God’s Word and Final Revelation to The Prophet Muhammad. Revealed over a period of twenty-three years,

The Quran was compiled and distributed to distant lands within twenty-five years of The Prophet’s death in 632 A.D. This is the only Quran recognized by Muslims.

Comprising laws, moral precepts, and narratives, The Quran’s timeless text remainsan inspiration and guide for more than one fifth of humanity. Together with The Quran,

the epitome of Classical Arabic, Muslims lives are guided by the examples and sayings of The Prophet.

Thousands of sayings have been attributed to The Prophet. Some are accepted as authentic; some traced to The Prophet’s companions; some are the subject of debate. Some examples:

“The first thing created by God was the Intellect.”

“The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of self.”

“The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr.”

“One learned man is harder on the devil than a thousand ignorant worshippers.”

“Riches are not from an abundance of worldly goods, but from a contented mind.”

“Reflect upon God’s creation but not upon His nature or else you will perish.”

“He who wishes to enter Paradise at the best door must please his mother and father.”

“No man is a true believer unless he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.”

“When the bier of anyone passes by you, whether Jew, Christian, or Muslim, rise to your feet.”

“The thing which is lawful, but disliked by God, is divorce.”

“Heaven lies at the feet of mothers.”

“Women are the twin-halves of men.”

“Actions will be judged according to intentions.”

“That which is lawful is clear, and that which is unlawful likewise, but there are certain doubtful things between the two from which it is well to abstain.”

“The proof of a Muslim’s sincerity is that he pays no attention to that which is not his business.”

“That person is nearest to God, who pardons ... him who would have injured him.”

“...yield obedience to my successor, although he may be an Abyssinian slave.”

“Assist any person oppressed, whether Muslim or non-Muslim.”

“The creation is like God’s family... the most be loved unto God is the person who does good to God’s family.”

“Modesty and chastity are parts of the Faith.”

Islamic Law is based upon The Quran, examples and sayings of The Prophet, consensus among the learned, analogical deduction, and individual reasoning. Islamic society comes closer than any

other society to the ideal democracy. All persons are equal before God; goodness is the only criterion of worth. There is no priesthood in Islam; even a child, with greater knowledge of

The Quran than his elders, may lead them in prayer. To become a Muslim, one need only profess,

“There is no god but God; Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”

Islamic Principle: Living Peacefully with All Nations and Peoples.

The verse mentioned below informs us that we were created and made into various nations and tribes so that we may get to know each other, and not so that we may despise and hate each other. Then we are reminded of the the fact that the best of us in God's eyes are those who are most righteous.

* "O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full Knowledge and is well-acquainted (with all things)." (Surah 49, Verse 13).

This wonderful principle of Islam makes it clear that there is no single people, race, or nation that is better than others. God created us all equal. In God's eyes, the best of us are the most righteous and most kind.

God created mankind as different races and nations although He could have created us all with as one nation, with one language and one religion. However, as stated in the verse mentioned above, God created these different nations and tribes so that we get to know other each other, and not to hate each other because we are different. This tells us that we should celebrate our differences and not hate each other based on them. Islam also teaches us to realize that no single race or people have supremacy over others, and that we are judged solely based on our actions.

This verse also teaches us that we should live peacefully with other nations and tribes and we should respect each other and our differences. We should learn to live together and to get to know each other, and to engage in dialogue amongst all nations and treat every human being as being equal.

4. Islamic Principle: There is no Compulsion in Religion

The verse from the Qur'an which states this principle of no compulsion in religion is the following:

* "Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things." (Surah 2, Verse 256).

The holy Qur'an reminds us that there must not be compulsion in religion. It states that the truth stands out clear from error, and that those who reject error and believe in God are the saved ones.

This means that Muslims are not allowed to force people to convert to Islam. Muslims should only seek to make the truth clear to others, and talk to them about Islam, then let them decide for themselves. In fact, most people who study Islam without having made a decision to hate it first come to love its message and convert to Islam after learning about it's values and principles.

Another verse that also states this principle is the following:

* "If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure. That is because they are men without knowledge." (Surah 9, Verse 6).

This wonderful verse instructs Muslims to grant asylum to non-believers, and make them safe, and allow them to hear the word of Allah. Then they are to be escorted to whatever place they will be safe and secure in. This is because these non-believers simply have no knowledge of Islam, and no knowledge of the word of Allah.

What a wonderful religion Islam is! How can this be compared with the way that Christians spread their religion? They spread it by genocide, mass murder, kidnapping of children and wiping out of entire nations and civilizations! Ask the natives of the Americas, Australia and Africa about it!

Islam is the only true religion, so how could one who follows it correctly go to hell? If you're not Muslim, then no she can't marry you, but after you convert, you should learn about the religion. The principles and laws and such. and what marriage means in Islam and your and her responsibilities within the marriage.

Read the Qur'an, translated by muhammad muhsin khan. Since this the book which we follow.

convert because it is the truth not because of some girl, i hope you are at least..

Anyways Islam means submission to Allah. What is Allah? He is one, undivisable, all-seeing all knowing, God who created everything and has power over all. He who sent messengers and prophets to people to inform the ignorant of the truth and sealed the prophethood with Muhammad and the religion of Islam.

Muslims respect and revere Jesus, and await his Second Coming. They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind. A Muslim never refers to him simply as ‘Jesus’, but always adds the phrase ‘upon him be peace’. The Quran confirms his virgin birth (an entire chapter in the Quran is entitled ‘Mary’), and Mary is considered the purest woman in all creation. The Quran describes the Annunciation as follows:

“‘Behold!’ the Angel said, ‘O, Mary, indeed God has chosen you, and purified you, and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him, whose name shall be the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, honored in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near to God. He shall speak to the people from his cradle and in maturity, and shall be of the righteous.’ She said: ‘O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?’ He said: ‘Even so; God creates what He will. When He decrees a thing, He says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.’”(The Final Testament, i.e. Quran, 3:42-47)

Jesus was born miraculously through the same power which had brought Adam into being without a father: ‘Truly, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, and then said to him, ‘Be!’ and he was. (The Glorious Quran, 3:49)

God is not Jesus. Even Jesus himself rejects this. God said in the Quran:

‘Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah (Jesus) said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him”(The Noble Quran-5:72)

About the coming of the last prophet Muhammad, The Holy Quran states in 61:6 that Jesus explicitly mentioned the name Ahmad: “And (remember) when Jesus Son of Mary said: ‘O, children of Israel! I am the Apostle of Allah(sent ) to you confirming the Torah (which came) before me, and give glad tidings of an Apostle to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad(i.e. the second name of Prophet Muhammad, and literally it means the one who praises Allah more than others).”

Jesus had mentioned in John 16:14 that “He shall glorify me”.

1.“He shall glorify me” (John 16:14). Actually the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad[Peace be upon him] have more reverence for Jesus[Peace be upon Him] than the Bible and Christians themselves. The following will clarify:

a.To believe in his death on the cross discredits his prophet hood according to Deuteronomy 13:5: “And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death…” It also stamps him as accursed (May God forbid!) according to Deuteronomy 21:22-23: “…for he that is hanged is accursed of God…”

b.Matthew 27:46: “…My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Could this not come from someone other than Jesus? Even a Non-Prophet would smile at agony as he knew that his death would win him a title of martyr. Was this not an insult to Jesus in not having faith in God?

c.Muslims cannot believe that Jesus could label the Gentiles as dogs and swine and address his mother with Woman, as the Holy Quran states in Surah 19:32: “And dutiful to my Mother[i.e. Mary], and (Allah) made me not an unblessed and arrogant.” Matthew 7:6: “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine…” John 2:4: “Jesus saith unto her(Mary), Woman , what have I to do with thee?”

Was Jesus Crucified?

Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified, because in the Quran , it says in Chapter 4:157 that Jesus wasn’t crucified: “And their(Jews) boasting: ‘We killed Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the Apostle of Allah,’ but they(Jews) killed him not , nor crucified him…and they did not kill him,for certain- rather God raised him to Himself.”. This is in accordance with what Jesus said (Matthew 10:24): “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.”

Suffering is often exaggerated in the Bible and termed “dead” as Paul said (I Corinthians 15:31): “I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ, I die daily” (i.e. I suffer daily). Here are some of the proofs:

1-On the cross he beseeched God for help (Matthew 27:46): “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” And in Luke 22:42: “Saying, Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”(This cup is the cup of death.)

2-Jesus’ prayer not to die on the cross was accepted by God, according to Luke, Hebrews and James. Then how could he still die on the cross?(Luke 22:43): “And there appeared an angel assured unto him from heaven, strengthening him.” It means that an angel assured him that God would not leave him helpless. (Hebrew 5:7): “Who in the days of his flesh, when he (Jesus) had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared.”

Jesus’ prayers were heard
