Do you, for example. get dreams from Allah on request for guidance? In what specific ways has He guided you?

Assalaamu alaykum brother. Basically guidance is there in the form of Quran, Sunnah, Ahadith and the Scholars who are in authority. I subscribe to the Hanafi School of Thought so I study mostly Tafsir based on Imam Hanifi's writings for those areas which are not readily clear from reading the basics.

But I think you want to know also that if we are not clear about things like what action we should take in specific situations, then I do Isthikara prayers and usually I get results in the form of dreams or intuition. It is difficult to explain, but sometimes I get what I think is a gut feeling which leads me into making the right decision.

I know that as a Muslim I cannot despair, therefore if I do not get a result from one or two or more prayers, I keep praying to Allah with the notion that He will eventually respond to my request for guidance.

Qur'an with sunnah of prophet (saw) is enough to keep me guided on the path of truth.

And if I need guidance in making decision, such as job, studies e.t.c I do istikhara.
