Question:
What exactly does Islam teach people about this?

Some people claim that it is the religion of peace, but there is so much violence in the Islamic world that I have a hard time believing that is the truth. Is it true that Islam teaches people to kill anyone who converts to another religion?

Also, what does Islam say that makes so many muslims hate Jewish people with such a passion?? I have heard that the Quran says Jewish people are close descendants of apes. Is this true?

I respect muslims, but I cannot respect any religion that teaches this kind of hate. I would like to hear Muslim's perspectives on these topics.

Please follow the advice to read the Quran, but also the ahadith since some of what you are looking for is from the traditions of Muhammad. You will see that what you are questioning really is a part of Islam.

Some Islamic teachings about Jews (and Christians):

Quran

005.051

YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

Quran

005.060

YUSUFALI: Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from Allah? those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!"

Sahih Muslim

Book 041, Number 6984:

Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The Jews will fight against you and you will gain victory over them until the stone would say: Muslim, here is a Jew behind me; kill him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Book 041, Number 6985:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

Apostates:

Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"

Qur'an (9:11-12) - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist."

Sahih Bukhari

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 260:

Narrated Ikrima:

Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn 'Abbas, who said, "Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "

http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/052.sbt.html

Volume 9, Book 84, Number 64:

Narrated 'Ali:

Whenever I tell you a narration from Allah's Apostle, by Allah, I would rather fall down from the sky than ascribe a false statement to him, but if I tell you something between me and you (not a Hadith) then it was indeed a trick (i.e., I may say things just to cheat my enemy). No doubt I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, where-ever you find them, kill them, for who-ever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection."

Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 84:

Dealing with Apostates

http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/084.sbt.html

There is a fatwa on apostates that gives more information such as Muslims will be asked to repent 3 times, but if they don't then they should be killed for leaving Islam:

Magic of Dawn is correct: A lot of what you've heard is in the hadith, not the quran, but is still taught in Islam. When I first began to research Islam I thought, and to some extent still do, that it was a beautiful religion and couldn't understand why so many people thought Muhammed was evil. Then I started to read the message he brought during the latter part of his mission and I also started reading hadiths. The latter part of his message is full of hatred, intolerance, violence and teaches the superiority of Muslims over all others. The hadiths are what really convinced me of the evil that I believe Islam is because they tell about things Muhammed said and did and only a monster would do such things.

You should stick around and observe the actions of most of the Muslims in this section and see all the intolerance and hatred there is, not to mention the constant insult and foul language. Most of them can't even agree what Islam teaches, especially in regards to what is and isn't sinful.

Remember though that not all Muslims are as rude and crude as the majority here are, but also realize that there are millions of Muslims out there who are just as vile as those here. I have been blessed to have muslim in-laws who are "true" Muslims and who follow the basic tenets of Islam and whose hearts are filled with love for all of mankind and who have no intolerance or hate.

1. AL-Quran 9:13: 'Will you not fight a people who violated their solemn pledges and plotted for the expulsion of the Prophet, and they did ATTACK YOU FIRST?' 2.The Middle East will never live peacefully, they are too arrogant to do so. They are also not the only Muslim nation in the world. The others are not mentioned in the papers because they are not fighting. 3.There are many existing Christian polytheistic communities/cults. 4.The Quran doesn't allow stoning for adultery. These are man-made Shariah laws. 5. Please dont confuse Shariah for Muslim. As for the Bible not being amended, have you read all the versions? Or atleast the original one? The earliest churches did not claim either, that Jesus is God. I went to a Catholic school, and even there I never heard anything of this sort. As a Muslim, I believe that God is the same and all for everyone, but He was not a human being. Anyhow, worship what you want to, but please try to be nicer when you enquire about another religion, especially one you have no clue about. Christianity teaches to love your enemy right?

I'm no Muslim, but I've lived with them for many years and all I know is that, their religion is called, "The Religion of benevolence." I personally never read in Islam about Jews coming from Apes, nor have any fanatics telling me about it. There are times that religion is used out of convenience, proving their point to the world. Most of the Muslims I know are really peaceful by heart and have nothing to do with violence. The hatred they've had is about their brethren in Palestine when UK gave so much land to the Jews. Even Mahatma Gandhi disapproves of the relocation considering that history dictates that a country or a people is more often dislocated from where they were naturally born due to invasion, war, et al. I think it's the prejudice and hatred by other religions to another that give-in to such dreaded violence all over the world. Fanaticism is the greatest since here, regardless if you're a Christian or a Muslim.

The true Islam teaches peace among people, kindness and love. Also, people are obligated to respect other religions and enable them to have their own worshipping places such as synagogues, churches and so on.

Many islamists teach peace, but many twist the preachings of the Quo-ran to service there own hateful agenda, many islamists in the middle east don't like jews because of the formation of the country of Israel displaced many muslims. All religions have there dark times, the islamic world still remembers the crusades when christians attacked the middle East, and when christians taught hate and violence. All texts are open to interpretation, we should all embrace love no matter what religions we believe in, i have met many kind muslims who work to make the world a better place.

Islaam teaches that there are times when people need to protect themselves, and teach others the message of God...as for violence in muslim world, there are a lot of reasons, but you shouldn't look at what some muslims might or might not do...You should read the Qur'aan to understand islaam, not neccessarily look at muslims who might or might not be practising islaam do.

The jewish people are descended from Isaac, the son of Abraham, the great prophet of God. Isaac was also a prophet. Jesus was from this line of descendents.

The arabs are descended from the other son of Prophet Abraham, Ismael, who was also a prophet. Prophet Muhammad, the final prophet of God was descended from this line.

So esentially, the father is the same. But the jews did not accept Jesus or Muhammad, and thats part of the reason why Christians and Muslims...and Jewish peoples have conflicts.

Christians accepted Jesus, but did not accept Muhammad.

So we ask you to learn about islaam by reading eg, a translation of the Qur'aan ! Its the true religion of God, may God guide you and us all.

I can only comment on what I have read from text written on history.

Mohummad asked the Jews to help him fight the sect from Mecca. Because they did not believe in his beliefs they refused so it started from there.

There were 1 or 2 historians that actually wrote about Mohummad life. I forget there names but if you Google you may find them. Then you can read about the man behind the religion.

If you were really serious about hearing such controversial topics on hate, violence, crimes, etc. go to your local Mosque and ask the Imam (like a Priest in Christianity) about your questions.

That's the best advice I could give.

well i am not a muslim and a neutralist that is no wish or hate

my opinion is that islam says generally obey the command and most of the muslims obey that

fortunately or unfortunately if osama bin laden or any such people is there they are obeying his commands that is all When there is the person who shot the arrow why should one ridicule the arrow? after all it has done its duty that is all

regrding jews/other religions there may be some sayings in quraan but it is people wjho get their own meaning and it is their liberty they say!

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

: Be enlighten by the Qur'ãn, it explains matters clearly!

: Read the Qur'ãn carefully, a little at a time, understand the Qur'ãn's testimony about itself!

: Dont approach the Qur'ãn with the misconception that it is like the Bible or history book or biography or collection of sayings!

: In fact, the Qur'ãn does not resemble any book authored by men!

: Read on examples of some human rights and moral virtues in the Qur'ãn:

. Right to protection of life... (S.17 V.33) (S.5 V.35)

. Right to justice... (S.5 V.9)

. Right to equality... (S.49 V.13)

. Duty to obey what is lawful and right to disobey what is unlawful... (S.5 V.3)

. Right to participate in public life... (S.42 V.38)

. Right to freedom., (S.3 V.79)

. Right to freedom of conviction... (S.2 V.256)

. Right to freedom of expression... (S.4 V.135)

. Right to protection against persecution on ground of difference of religion... (S.6 V.108)

. Right to protection of honour and good name... (S.49 V.11)

. Right to privacy... (S.24 V.27-28)

. Economic rights... (S.51 V.19) (S.62 V.8) (S.2. V.275)

. Right to property... (S.62 V.10)

. Right to adequate remuneration and compensation... (S.46 V.19)

. Humility... (S.25 V.63) (S.17 V.37)

. Generosity... (S.2 V.272) (S.3 V.92)

. Truthfulness... (S.33 V.24) (S.9 V.19) (S.2 V.177)

: It is important to remember that the Qur'ãn is addressed to all mankind. It enlightens people concerning God - Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and His purposes with man. It is meant to be a guide in this world and to give glad tidings of the next world to those who seek a righteous way of life!

Wassalaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
